Where we let time stand still

The actual journey to Volldalskoja is along an old farm road with a horse-drawn carriage. Illuminated by the torches of the sleighs or the bright summer evenings, the workhorses pull us into the mountain landscape, while we leave everyday life behind us for a while.

Once there, time stands still as we are surrounded by solid walls of timber from the inner forests of Femunden, in front of a crackling fire that adds warmth and atmosphere.

In Volldalskoja you are welcome just as you are. Here, calm descends and the atmosphere is warm and relaxed. On sturdy tables, we have the pleasure of serving tasty meals with a menu inspired by the nature around us, with uncooked mountain fish, game meat and berries from the forest, prepared with care and served in fine accompaniment with local and noble drops. The atmosphere is enhanced by our own fiddler who fills the hut with fiddling and singing.

While we're enjoying the warmth inside, the weather outside can vary from good weather that offers a clear and sparkling starry sky, to snowy weather in many varieties, which at its most violent locally sounds the name "huggu buvêr". Either way, the horses bring us back safe and sound. An experience in itself, too.
