Hike to Valnesfossen

The tour starts at Rampen Adventure Hub in Bodø, before we drive out of town and into the Arctic winter landscape. Accompanied by our guide, we’ll hike about 3.5 kilometers on snowshoes along snow-covered trails, old paths, and across frozen streams on our way to Valnesfossen.

Once we arrive, an impressive sight awaits us. Valnesfossen has a drop of about 60 meters, and in winter, snow, ice, and flowing water create a truly unique setting around the waterfall. Here, we’ll take time to enjoy the surroundings, have a hot drink, and a light snack before continuing our journey.

Before or after the snowshoe hike, the journey continues to Saltstraumen. We time our visit to coincide with the period of strong currents, so you can experience the surging waters and whirlpools from shore. On this single trip, you’ll get to experience two very different sides of nature around Bodø—from the tranquility of the snow-covered landscape to the powerful movements of Saltstraumen.

No prior snowshoe experience is necessary. You’ll receive a brief introduction before the hike, and the guide will adjust the pace to suit the group. Snowshoes and poles, transportation, a guide, a light snack, and a hot drink are included.
