Svartisen: Guided glacier hike on Engabreen in Meløy

Engabreen, a visible glacier tongue of Svartisen that stretches down toward the fjord landscape, is located by Holandsfjorden in Meløy. Accompanied by a guide, you’ll venture onto the glacier equipped with the necessary safety gear, including a helmet, ice axe, climbing harness, and crampons. Along the way, you’ll see blue ice, ice formations, and crevasses. The guide will adapt the route based on conditions on the glacier and the group’s skill level. The tour is suitable for participants in generally good physical condition.

Svartisen is Norway’s second-largest glacier, covering an area of approximately 370 km².
The hike takes place in spectacular surroundings—be sure to bring your camera.

This hike requires that you be in good physical condition.
Bring: Sturdy hiking boots (soft sneakers are not suitable for crampons), waterproof and windproof hiking gear, gloves and a hat, sunglasses, a backpack with room for some extra gear for the ski tour, a water bottle, and food.
