Alta is known for multitudes, and its diverse environment ranks at the top of the list, closely followed by the calm aura that envelops the region. This adventure cruise by Icecube of Aurora takes you to the best locations in Alta Fjord, allowing you to go bird watching, as well as witness flora and fauna in their natural habitat.

While cruising through the water, the captain will tell you all about Alta's rich history, including 'Tirpitz,' the German warship, the English ore mines, and the Northern Lights Observatory. Time flies as you listen to these fascinating stories.

This tour will also take you to unique places where you can see beautiful birds. If you're interested in bird watching, you'll spot various birds on the cruise, including storm swallows, seagulls, cormorants, and the mighty sea eagle, to name a few. While the boat travels in Alta Fjord, you might also occasionally catch sight of porpoises.

  • 2- and 3-hour tour : Onboard, we will navigate to a cluster of small islands with local bird life and wildlife, and with a unique fauna in the Alta Fjord.

  • 4-5-hour tour: On board we will steer to Kåfjord where the German battleship Tirpitz sank and where the English businessmen built the mines. We also travel to places where you can see the special fauna and local wildlife.

Good to know

  • The minimum required number of participants are two persons. If you book for yourself, you can pay for two adult tickets or the tour is cancelled unless more people book the same tour at a later date. If you pay for two adult tickets, you will be refunded the extra ticket if more people join the same tour.
  • The tour starts from Fiskerihavna in Alta. You must arrive 15 minutes before departure. At the meeting point, you will be provided with warm boilersuits (in cold weather) and life jackets. Once everyone is ready, you will board the boat with the captain.
  • Dogs not allowed, except service dogs.
  • Children under 6 years can maybe join. Must send a direct request to us beforehand.
  • If you are susceptible to seasickness, take seasickness medication 3 hours before the tour starts.

Policy on Rescheduling Tours Due to Weather Conditions

  • If adverse weather conditions occur at the time and date of a booked tour, you have the option to either cancel the tour with a full refund or reschedule it to a new date.

  • Should you choose to reschedule rather than cancel, and a new date and time are agreed upon between you and the captain, this new arrangement becomes binding. If you does not attend the tour at the rescheduled date and time, the original booking remains valid, and payment for the tour will still be required in full.

     

  • If you are late for the tour, the boat will wait max 10 minutes after the tour's starting time and then leave for the tour. You will then be reported as a no-show and not eligible for a refund.

Round-trip transport within a range of 0-40 km (specify pick-up location). Must be ordered minimum 12 hours before the tour.
