Stabbursnes Nature House and Museum is an information center for nature and culture in Finnmark, as well as a visitor center for Stabbursdalen National Park and Landscape Protection Area. The exhibition at the center presents a cross-section of Finnmark’s natural and cultural heritage.
The exhibition presents a miniature version of Finnmark, built around the most common types of landscapes in the region:
The Plateau – the winter grazing areas of reindeer; reindeer herding has formed the foundation of Sami settlement here.
The River Valleys – home to Europe’s most important salmon rivers. Agriculture and outfield resources have also been essential for settlement.
The Fjords – where Sami, Finnish, and Norwegian settlements and cultures meet. Important resting areas for wetland birds.
The Coast – a barren, Arctic landscape, yet rich in marine life. Fisheries have provided the basis for settlement.
Stabbursdalen National Park – home to the world’s northernmost pine forest, untouched nature, and excellent opportunities for outdoor activities.
The film "Blue Days and Golden Nights" is a tribute to the people and nature of the North.
Children under 16 enter free of charge.
