Experience Knaben Via Ferrata on Your Own!

A flexible, self‑guided via ferrata tour for those who have their own equipment and experience. The route offers beautiful views, varied mountain terrain, great exposure, and three exciting route options toward the top.

Knaben Via Ferrata is located near Knaben Gård in Southern Norway and offers a varied and airy climbing experience on the mountain Knabekniben, 786 meters above sea level. The route features easy access, solid rock, an inviting appearance, and a well‑established return trail.

This tour is designed for those who want a completely independent experience and who already have their own via ferrata equipment and the experience needed to use it safely.

The tour begins with a 10‑minute walk from the main road to the starting point. The first section takes you about 80 vertical meters up the initial wall, before the route continues along a 600‑meter mountain trail leading to the upper part of the climb.

In the upper section, you can choose between three different final routes, each with its own level of difficulty – moderate, challenging, or very challenging.

For those who prefer a shorter or less exposed experience, there is a clearly marked escape route after the first climbing wall.

From the top of Knabekniben, you follow a blue‑marked trail down to the main road. From there, it is approximately 1.1 km back to BaseCamp. The route offers beautiful views, great exposure, and a genuine mountain experience for those who want full freedom and a sense of mastery on their own terms.

This product is intended for experienced climbers who wish to complete the tour independently, without a guide and without instruction, and who bring their own certified via ferrata equipment.
