Svartåstjønna

Svartåstjønna is an easy and varied hike in Bindal municipality, perfect for families, beginners, and those seeking a peaceful nature experience in beautiful surroundings on the Helgeland coast.

The trail follows a clearly marked path south towards Svartåstjønna and offers varied terrain with marshy areas, forests, and open landscapes. Along the way, the nature gradually changes character – from damp marsh and quiet forest to more open terrain as you approach the lake. This transition gives the hike a nice sense of progression and variation, even though the route is relatively short.

Svartåstjønna is located at about 181 meters above sea level and serves as a natural focal point on the hike. Here, the landscape opens up, inviting a pause, tranquility, and reflection. At the same time, this is a great starting point for further hikes into the Terråkfjell for those who wish to explore more.

For the adventurous, there is also the option for a detour:
 • to Jenshola, an exciting limestone cave in the area
 • or further into Terråkfjell, for longer and more challenging hikes.

Note: Some sections may be wet, especially during rainy periods, but the trail is otherwise easy to follow and well-suited for children and families.

Access:
Drive from Årsandøy towards Terråk along Fv 801. About 2 km before Terråk center, south of Fallbekkvatnet, turn right at the top of the hill.
