Make your own cheese at a small artisan dairy in Beiarn, Northern Norway. Three hours of hands-on cheesemaking, tasting and a tour, together with cheesemaker Jørgen.
Three hours inside a small artisan dairy in Beiarn. You'll meet Jørgen, cheesemaker, part-time farmer and the man behind Beiarmat, at "1839 Lokalmat" where he shares the building with several local food producers.
You get your hands in the curd. From heated milk to a finished cheese, you do it all yourself with Jørgen as your guide. Along the way you'll learn what separates goat cheese from cow cheese, why temperature matters more than anything, and why artisan cheese tastes nothing like what you find in a supermarket.
After the cheesemaking you sit down with a selection of Beiarmat's cheeses and something to drink. We fit in a walk through the production and Lokalmathuset before you head home with the cheese you made yourself.
Cheese available for purchase in The Pantry, our shop at Lokalmathuset
